#1The Golden Gate abstract painting.jpg

The Golden Gate

30” x 48” x 1.5”
Oil-on-Canvas

As fog embraced the bridge, all man-made sound blurred. Mist dripped from the cables yet the familiar structure glistened.

Richly hued with unexpected color makes this abstract landscape painting artfully avant-guard using art’s symbolic language.

Trip into your mind.

#2 Sea Through the Trees abstract painting.jpg

Sea Through the Trees

36” x 36” x 1.5”
Oil-on-Canvas

On a rain spattered drive to a National Park north of San Francisco, Sea Through the Trees came into sharp focus through a blinding downpour - an oxymoron to be sure. The trees were heavy with moisture, the air thick with humidity and in the distance the sea was remarkably calm. It was the contrast of the stark landscape of Point Reyes, the ocean and the density of the forest’s edge that inspired this painting.

Jewel Box Reservoir

The deep blue color of this reservoir seen from the air is reminiscent of a precious sapphire stone. Looking achingly chic and nestled in its kid skin leather box, this painting is heirloom ready.

 It’s a gem.

#3 Fog abstract painting.jpg

Fog

30” x 30” x 1.5”
Oil-on-Canvas

Fog takes a deep dive into the world of fading flora. As the dulled light and misty sky pretend to be dusk, all color appears to recede. Yet this painting is actually heavy with color. Closer study revels a world unto itself, full of the hope of revival at the slightest drop of life enhancing rain – if only the sun would peek through.

Often nesting in an old weathered barn, this painting represents the home of an owl and its newly hatched owlets. In this contemporary approach, countless layers of paint draw attention to the skewed entry. Wildlife conservation begins here.

Mother Nature has allowed for the creation of abstract abundance. Layer upon layer, this meadow of flowers is dotted with a smattering of orange poppies in a bed of French Ultramarine blue lupine. Conservation begins with the land.

Pass the Mustard  #1

36” x 48” x 1.5”
Oil-on-Canvas

On a long and winding road on the West Coast of the United States there is an extraordinary spring bonanza of yellow mustard. Not a native plant but no less beautiful.

The road is called Chamisal Pass, hence the painting’s title Pass the Mustard. Acres and acres dust the terrain with primary color.

Grey Poupon has nothing on this one.

Just as mustard plants grow in clusters, why be surprised that different variations of the same painting keep popping up.

The Pass has had a yearly display of cadmium yellow weeds. Yes, believe it or not, they’re weeds; wild yet tidy.

Beautiful in its own right.

Between the Lines

Complimentary colors and a riff on Rothko merge to create a geometric yet organic story. Layer after layer, a matrix built upon an initial texture randomly laid down in acrylics, the resulting piece is further constructed with oils in a final composition of architectural and gestural complexity.

While the more adventuresome prefer a pitched tent on terra firma, the smell of pine and the music of a bubbling brook beckon less hard-core campers too. They’re the ones who wouldn’t be caught dead in a sleeping bag, can’t live without fresh pressed sheets sprinkled with a bit of lavender and prefer to have fine glassware at the ready.

Pebble’s Seventh

40” x 30” x 1.5”
Oil-on-Canvas

One of the most famous holes in golf, Pebble’s Seventh has been photographed and painted thousands of times. In this contemporary approach, everything but the green is hinted. Catch the wind just right and this par three can prize you with a hole-in-one. Blink at the wrong instant and your ball is gone.

Forever.

The par 3 at Pebble Beach’s seventh hole is a golfer’s fantasy.

At first glance, the viewer may perceive an abstract arrangement of vivid colors, seemingly disconnected from any recognizable forms. However, as one delves deeper, the true essence of the renowned golf hole unveils itself. In surrendering to the artist's vision, one begins to discern subtle hints of undulating greens, elusive glimpses of the coastline, and the the Pacific Ocean. This artwork transcends literal representation.

Floating in an infinity pool with an iPhone obviously has its limitations. But there is an upside. In this case, reflections from surrounding framework and flora slow danced on still water. The result was unexpected.

Is it a pigment of our imagination?

Being airlifted from the sands of time requires: Planning. Preparation. Purpose. It’s good to be out but was there ever a plan?

Airlifted from the inside out.

Canvas expressions!

If that spot on your wall is glaringly empty this one’s for hue – I mean YOU !

It’s big and subtly colorful with countless layers without gobs of thick paint giving it so much texture you’d need to use a feather duster on it.

A beast that breathes.
